Cabeceo Melbec
Cabeceo Melbec
Viticultural Appellation
Sourced from fruit grown in the upper benches/hillsides of the Mendoza Valley, this Malbec is a reserve quality wine showing the concentration of fruit and color typical of wines costing 2 to 3 times as much. Harvested as 23.4 brix the wine was fermented in stainless steel and racked to new and one-year-old French oak. Cabeceo bridges the gap between wines meant to cellar for years and wines ready to enjoy immediately. The nature of hillside fruit gives it life while the intense fruit typical of the varietal in Mendoza produces a wine that can be con- sumed today and into the next 8 years.
Tasting Notes: The term New Classic is meant to convey the often opposite characteristics of accessability VS drinkability.
Cabeceo is a reserve level Malbec at a reasonable cost. It displays the color and structure of a wine that can age for 5-10 years while focusing on intense blackberry and dark chocolate fruit that is immediately discernible. This is a versatile wine leading to a myriad of food combinations.
The wine is comfortable with classic red meat associations as well as fresh salmon, lamb and a variety of pastas. Cabeceo is an Argentine term that simply put, is an invitation to dance. But the dance is by no means passive: It is intense, dramatic, and concludes with delightful exhaustion.
